Top bar
Every item of the top bar, from left to right
Left side
- Aurora menu (logo)
- Who you are, system-wide actions and the power buttons. See Aurora menu.
- Windows
- One button per open window, minimized ones included (dimmer). Click to bring a window forward; click the focused one to minimize it. When an app has several windows, a number shows how many; click it for a list (numbered, to switch) and New Window, Minimize, Close and Quit.
- Activities
- Shows file transfers, Dev Hub installs and AI downloads while they run, with their progress.
Right side
- System monitor (optional)
- Processor and memory at a glance; its popover adds temperature, download and upload speed and free disk space. Turn it on in Settings → Desktop & Dock → Top Bar.
- Tray
- Icons of apps that run in the background (Discord, Slack, Steam, Nextcloud, KDE Connect…). Click for their menu.
- ✦ Assistant
- Opens the Aurora Assistant (when Aurora AI is on).
- Search
- Opens Spotlight.
- Status icons
- Network, volume, Bluetooth, battery (with percentage if chosen), a red dot while recording the screen, and “…”. Click any of them for the Control Center. Scroll over them to change the volume (with the on-screen indicator); middle-click to mute.
- Show Desktop
- The thin line at the far right end of the bar, as on Windows: one click hides every window, a second click brings back the ones it hid. Turn it off in Settings → Desktop & Dock → Top Bar.
- Clock
- Date and time (24- or 12-hour in Settings → Date & Time; seconds and the clock's position in Settings → Desktop & Dock → Top Bar). Click it for the calendar, weather and notifications.
Menus opened with the keyboard close with Esc. The bar can be at the top or the bottom of the screen (Settings → Desktop & Dock).
