Snap Layouts
Press Super+Z. A panel at the top of the screen shows six layouts:
- two halves;
- two thirds and one third;
- three thirds;
- a half and two quarters;
- four quarters;
- a wide middle between two narrow columns.
Point at a zone in a layout: the screen shows where the window will go. Click: the window in front moves there. Esc or a click elsewhere closes the panel.
Snap Assist
Right after you place a window, every empty zone is outlined and the first one lists your other windows (most recently used first). Click one to put it in that zone; then the next zone asks, until the layout is full. Leave Empty skips a zone, Esc stops.
Snap Assist also appears when you snap a window to a half with Super+← or → (or by dragging it to the edge), offering the other half, unless a window is already snapped there.
Without a window in front, choosing a zone in Snap Layouts asks for a window for every zone, starting with the one you clicked.
Snap Layouts and Snap Assist need the Aurora (Wayfire) session. In Aurora Compatibility the keyboard snapping above still works.
