Calendar, weather and notifications
The clock's popover: calendar, weather, notification history and Do Not Disturb
Click the clock in the top bar.
Calendar
Today's full date and a month calendar (arrows change month and year). Open Calendar opens GNOME Calendar with your events.
Weather
The temperature, the sky and the next hours, for:
- the city chosen in the Weather app, if any;
- otherwise Weather's automatic location (found through GeoClue, rounded to about 10 km);
- otherwise the main city of your time zone.
Choosing a city in Weather updates it at once. Units follow Weather's setting, else your region. Data comes from Open-Meteo (no account, only that approximate position is sent) and is kept for 30 minutes. Click the weather to open the Weather app. Turn it off in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Notifications
New notifications pop up at the top right for a few seconds; critical ones stay. Click one to open the app that sent it; buttons on it run its actions. The popover keeps the history: Clear empties it, Do Not Disturb silences the popups.
When a notification contains a one-time code (“Your verification code is 482913”), it gets a Copy 482913 button.
Per-app choices (mute an app's notifications) are in Settings → Notifications.
Warnings Aurora sends by itself
- Updates ready, and a restart needed to finish them;
- the battery low (10%) and critically low (5%), and Battery Saver turning on;
- a Bluetooth device low on battery: headphones, a mouse or a keyboard at 15% or less (once, until it has been charged again);
- a disk nearly full, a drive plugged in.
Automatic Do Not Disturb
Like Windows' Focus Assist, Do Not Disturb can turn on by itself (Settings → Notifications → Automatic Do Not Disturb):
- On a schedule, from and to an hour you choose (22:00–07:00 by default; off until you turn it on);
- While an app is fullscreen: games, videos and presentations (on by default);
- While sharing or recording the screen (on by default).
Critical notifications always show; the others wait in the list.
