Aurora's own packages and repository
How Aurora's own .deb packages are built, signed and published.
- Choice:
build/package-desktop.shbuilds two.debs withdpkg-deb:aurora-desktop(everything that changes often, about 160 KB) andaurora-artwork(wallpapers and sounds, about 20 MB, rarely changes).tools/publish-apt.shmakes a signed apt repository (apt-ftparchive,InReleaseandRelease.gpgwith an Ed25519 key) for GitHub Pages. - Alternatives: a Launchpad PPA or OBS (tied to other distributions' infrastructure), reprepro, Flatpak for the desktop (a shell can't run sandboxed), no packages (installed systems would never get Aurora updates).
- Why: a plain static repository needs no server. apt already knows how to verify, upgrade and roll back packages, and a snapshot is taken before each upgrade anyway.
